Garbage food = Garbage workout

Lesson learned! My eating was pretty crappy yesterday; therefore, this morning’s run was pretty crappy! I was seriously lagging, and was in actual pain on top of being exhausted. I let myself be a little angry at me, since I knew how much more I would’ve gotten out of the workout if I’d fueled properly beforehand. It wasn’t wasted, though: I’ve been eating and drinking water like a star today, because I don’t ever want to feel like that in a workout again!

This was one of those things I know, but the combination of both working out more intensely, and then actually experiencing the impact poor choices had on my body made it much more real than either just reading/hearing about the importance of fueling well, and also made me appreciate how much more in tune with my body’s needs I am. I almost think anyone who hasn’t experienced this needs to take a day of crap eating (lots of refined sugar, white flour, caffeine, starches), then try and run 3.5 miles up a hill the following morning. Worked for me! ;-) On the other hand, many exercisers are probably smarter than I am, and wouldn’t have made the choices I made yesterday…hmm.

One more thing: read a bunch of posts today about backsliding and “falling off the wagon.” I was there, too, this week! It makes me worried about the holidays, though…we all need to get on track and establish our healthy habits now, rather than waiting until the holidays are in full force! :-) Let’s do this!

I am totally with you on staying on the wagon for the holidays. I refuse to give into temptations and will pretend I am only the cook.

When I eat crap (like I have most of this week), I definitely pay for it by having awful workouts!

I did this Saturday. I realized how the JUNK I had eaten made it MUCH more difficult to work out than when I eat healthy during the week. It is so strange how we can tell the difference now! Course I always felt like crap before…

We can get through these HOLIDAYS ! ! !

YOu are right we all ned to, so we can kick major butt. And come out lighter at the end of the holidays instead of heavier.

garbage in=garbage out sooooo true. I have had that happen too often. preparing for an event is a 24 hr a day job ive noticed. everytime i eat something, I try to keep in mind what I am trying to accomplish. I get my best workouts in when i eat really light, maybe a couple of apples before working out or running. If I do more than that, within an hour or 1.5 hrs, boy do I have issues.

Found that out kickboxing tonight. I raise my right hand and solemnly swear that I will never eat a regular dinner an hour before kickboxing again! I simply felt like crap and got cramps, like you, eating crap and working out cured me :)

SO true, when I eat better I notice my runs are better. On the other hand when I havn’t eaten well it is almost a waste of time.

So true, I sure feel it when I eat crap, and it affects my performance. i need to really remember this now that the holidays are approaching. Love your pic!

100% agreed! This is the very reason why I eat cleaner during the days I exercise and why I push to eat better food.

So glad you are figuring all this out for yourself sweetie.

Also, when people ask me, why do you eat 3000 calories a day? This also has to do with providing the right energy source for my exercise.

Have a good day today hon!
