“Failure to plan is planning for failure”
Sometimes I post even when there’s nothing in particular to say, but I still have to keep myself honest. This is one of those times. Boot camp was great yesterday, but my eating was inconsistent. We had a training for our volunteers, and I simply didn’t plan well for my food. All I brought was a hard-boiled egg, and ended up eating a million tiny biscotti, 3 cups of highly caffeinated coffee, 2 oz. cheese, and picked at the pastry and crackers. However, over the rest of the day, I also ate half a head of raw broccoli, a giant apple, a nectarine and cottage cheese. So, in addition to eating a lot of empty calories, I also acknowledge that I packed in some really, really good and nutritious calories, too! But, yes, see what I mean by inconsistent?! Yes sirree, it is all in the planning as far as food goes. I’ve seen the success I have when I plan well, and know also the roadblocks that happen when I don’t plan out my needs.
Today is likely going to include a lengthy dog walk (which, to clarify, tends to be actual exercise–he’s an active 90 lb. rottweiler mix who likes to keep moving–he’s not really a stop-and-smell-everything type of guy!) , and a hike later with my friend who’s visiting. Today will also include the splurge meal that I mentioned yesterday. I may have to revise my plan, though, and be a little more moderate. I wasn’t as disciplined the past couple days as one ought to be before a 1000+ calorie dinner! Fair enough, as long as I get to where I want to be this week. Moderation is always worth it in the end!
One tip I have for you is to keep something in your purse or car if you plan on driving somewhere. I underestimated my hunger and almost passed out behind the wheel one time and from then on, I keep a low cal. snack in my purse in case I get hungry. This can come in handy if you get stuck somewhere unexpectedly also.
I almost didn’t post today because I had a gain, but I felt the same way, I wanted to be honest! Thanks for being true about the ups and downs. I also do so much better when I plan!
Hahaha… Wanna trade pups!? I like to think walking my dog is exercise… Clearly taking a 20lbs dog for a “walk” AKA stop and sniff everyone elses poop, IS NOT exercise haha…
I like your blog title. It makes me feel accountable. Like I should be in control of my life and weight loss and I should keep better track of it! Plus I love your moderation bit. You sound like you are a pro at this stuff!!! Congrats to you!
HOpe you have a great day!
At least you got some good nutritioon in!
